Chamber made

Buffalo is alive with the sound of chamber music. The latest ensemble is the Buffalo Chamber Players -- a group of Buffalo musicians organized by Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra violist Janz Castelo. The Buffalo Chamber Players, many of whom play in the BPO, is performing its inaugural concert at Wednesday at Buffalo Seminary, 205 Bidwell Parkway. The public is invited.

On the program: Benjamin Britten's Phantasy Quartet for oboe and strings; Mozart's brooding and beautiful String Quintet No. 4 in G Minor; and two works by Igor Stravinsky, "Fanfare for a New Theater" for two trumpets and the Octet for winds. A special draw is sure to be Paganini's Quartet No. 15 for guitar and strings, featuring BPO Music Director JoAnn Falletta as guest guitarist.

Alluringly, the musicians hint at "a short, special surprise by Schoenberg."

The concert takes place at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Admission is $15, $5 for students. For more information, call 462-5659 or visit
