Who'll be Section VI soccer champs?

The Section VI soccer season will come down to nine games this weekend.

On what should be a terrific soccer Saturday at Amherst, three of the four large-school games will feature matchups between teams from the same league, with Williamsville East seeking titles in the girls and boys games. Friday evening's Class B doubleheader, also at Amherst, has an intriguing matchup on the boys side and a almost-couldn't-be-farther-apart-geographically battle on the girls side. Maple Grove has both of its teams in the Class C finals while in Class D, the Ellicottville girls will try to beat North Collins for the championship (after the North Collins boys beat Ellicottville in that final last week).

Friday at Amherst: Class B girls -- Wilson (14-4-2) vs. Falconer (14-0-4), 5 p.m.; Class B boys -- Akron (19-1) vs. City Honors (14-2), 7 p.m. Friday at Portville: Class D girls -- North Collins (10-4-5) vs. Ellicottville (14-3-1), 5 p.m.; Class C girls -- Maple Grove (14-3-2) vs. Frewsburg (13-3-1), 7 p.m.. Friday at Jamestown: Class C boys -- Maple Grove (19-0-2) at Holland (13-5-1).

Saturday at Amherst: Class AA girls -- Kenmore West (16-3-2) vs. North Tonawanda (17-4), 1:30 p.m.; Class AA boys -- Williamsville North (18-0-2) vs. Clarence (17-2-2), 3:30 p.m.; Class A girls -- East Aurora (17-4) vs. Williamsville East (19-0-2), 5:30 p.m.; Class A boys -- Williamsville East (18-1-2) vs. Iroquois (15-2-2), 7:30 p.m.
