Maude S. Greene, a retired housekeeper, active churchwoman and funeral home officer, died Sunday in her Buffalo home. She was 91.
Born Maude Smith in Greenville, S.C., she grew up there before moving to Calhoun Falls, S.C., where she worked as an elementary school cook. She moved to Buffalo in 1961.
Mrs. Greene worked as a housekeeper at Georgian Court Nursing Home until 1979, when she took a part-time job as a personal care aide at Niagara Lutheran Home.
A church mother at Mount Zion Church of God-Holiness since 1992, she was also president of the church's Pastor Aides for many years and served as treasurer and recording secretary for Brian K. Lewis Funeral Homes.
She enjoyed cooking, tending her house plants and traveling.
Her husband, the Rev. Allen M. Sr., died in 1980.
Surviving are five daughters, Ruby Thompson, Evelyn Russell, Helen Conteh, Estella Smith and Edna Perdido; a son, Allen M. Jr.; a sister, Elnora Johnson; and a brother, John H. Smith.
Services will be at noon Saturday in Mount Zion Church of God-Holiness, 32 Oakgrove Ave.
