Here we go again.
Canisius beat St. Joe's in a wild 41-34 victory last week in the teams' regular season finale at All High Stadium. Friday night at 6 p.m., the rivals go at it again at All High in the Monsignor Martin Association semifinals with a trip to The Ralph on the line.
Last week's victory by Canisius came after the St. Joe's half of a set of identical twins (who compete for opposite sides of the rivalry) guaranteed a victory for St. Joe's. The day after the football game, football player/soccer player Tim Heubsch helped the St. Joe's soccer team beat Canisius, 1-0, in the Monsignor Martin championship game. Heubsch isn't the only punter/kicker who played for the soccer team; Canisius soccer captain Andrew Rogowski does the kicking duties for the Crusaders as well. The matchup is again at All High, something that might not happen in the future since both schools are constructing new fields (check out a peek at Canisius' progress here).
Which twin will win? Which double-duty kicker will prevail? Does series dominator St. Joe's (43-26-3 since it began in 1921, winner in 25 of the last 28) rebound? Or does Canisius build more momentum under first-year coach Brandon Harris?
Vote for who you think gets the bragging rights this time and tell us why by clicking "comments" at the bottom of this post. When you vote, you'll see the current results; the poll closes at kickoff.
