>Thief snatches golf clubs from open Lockport garage
TOWN OF LOCKPORT -- A Hallmark Lane man was mowing his lawn Saturday morning when he saw a passer-by suddenly dash into his open garage and steal a set of golf clubs, police said.
The man told Niagara County sheriff's deputies that he spotted two men in front of his house just before 11:30 p.m. After one of them ran into his garage and grabbed the $800 set of clubs, both of them jumped into a nearby car and drove off. State Police reported a similar theft Friday in the same area.
>Parolee charged with pot possession
NIAGARA FALLS -- A parolee faces a felony narcotics charge and a parole violation after police said they recovered a large amount of marijuana and other drugs from his Falls Street home early Saturday.
Police and parole officers were conducting house checks in the area when they said they found the pot, along with small amounts of crack and powder cocaine, in the residence of Laterio M. Humphrey, 32.
Humphrey was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of marijuana and violating conditions of parole. Police also confiscated a 1998 Dodge which they will attempt to claim under asset forfeiture laws.
