Spring start expected for roof replacements
SANBORN -- Roof replacements for two Niagara-Wheatfield Central School District elementary schools are not expected to begin until next spring.
In May, voters approved the spending to replace the roofs on Colonial Village and Errick Road elementary schools.
School business executive Kerin Dumphrey said that although the School Board approved bond resolutions this month for the nearly $2.7 million project, there would not be time to start the work this construction season.
Once the architectural work is finished, the plans have to be submitted to the state Education Department. The project would then have to be bid out, Dumphrey said. For safety reasons, he said, roof project also normally are carried on during the summer when pupils are not in classes.
