WNY circuit shifts to Batavia Monday

The Western New York harness racing circuit shifts to Batavia Downs on Monday, when a four-month season opens with a 7:35 p.m. program. The Buffalo Raceway meet concludes with racing tonight and Saturday at 6:30 p.m.

Batavia Downs will race every Friday and Saturday night through Dec. 1. There also will be night racing Monday, Aug. 6, and Wednesdays in August, September, October and Nov. 21.

Matinee programs at 1:15 p.m. will be held on three Sundays (Aug. 12, 19 and 26) and Labor Day, Sept. 3.

Doubleheaders, at 1:15 p.m. and 7:35 p.m., will be held three Saturdays -- Nov. 10 and 17 and Dec. 1.

New York Sire Stakes races for 3-year-olds will be held Wednesday, next Friday, Aug. 22 and Sept. 5. The $25,000 Robert J. Kane Memorial Pace will be Oct. 6.
