Herd tries to change luck in matinee

The Buffalo Bisons and Charlotte Knights are back at it again this afternoon in the third game of their four-game set in Dunn Tire Park, with the Bisons still trying for their first win of the season against the Chicago White Sox affiliate. They are 0-6 against Charlotte this year and 1-13 vs. the Knights the last two seasons.

The Bisons enter today's action a season-high 3 1/2 games out of first place in the IL North as Scranton/Wilkes-Barre has roared to the IL's best record and taken over the lead. Buffalo is a mere percentage point ahead of Durham in the race for the IL wild-card.

Lefty Aaron Laffey (7-3) is, in fact, going to start for the Bisons today. He's still here after all the intrigue Sunday about getting yanked early against Syracuse for a potential callup to Cleveland. Laffey's seven-game winning streak remains intact and he can tie the franchise record for a starter with a victory today. The Charlotte starter is 6-foot-10, 270-pound lefty Andrew Sisco (1-4), a 24-year-old being converted to a starter after making 151 relief appearances in the big leagues the last three years with Kansas City and Chicago.

Here's the Herd's lineup:

  • Trent Durrington, lf
  • Joe Inglett, 2b
  • Luis Rivas, ss
  • Ryan Mulhern, 1b
  • Keith Ginter, dh
  • Andy Marte, 3b
  • Yamid Haad, c
  • Brad Snyder, rf
  • Jonathan Van Every, cf
