>8 police agencies restore peace after Olcott brawl
OLCOTT -- Eight police agencies responded to a large fight in Krull Park on Saturday evening after more than 75 combatants began to advance on the first officers to arrive on the scene.
The disturbance at about 6:15 p.m. eventually was quelled without any arrests and with only one injury that occurred before police came. A 37-year-old Lockport woman suffered a minor stab wound to her hand and was taken to Newfane Inter-Community Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Niagara County sheriff's deputies were the first to arrive at the Lake Road park, responding to a call of a large fight. They found dozens of people in the south end of the park, yelling and fighting. When the deputies intervened, the crowd began to turn on them, prompting a call for backup.
Officers from the Village of Barker, Lockport, Lewiston and Youngstown police departments sped to the scene, along with state troopers and State Parks Police. The U.S. Border Patrol helicopter also responded.
Order eventually was restored, and police found the injured woman, who had been stabbed with a large metal fork. The Border Patrol helicopter team stopped three cars with possible suspects as they drove down Route 18, but further investigation determined that no one in the cars had been involved in the stabbing. An investigation is continuing and charges are expected.
