Bona's nonleague slate is out

180pxstbonaventurebonnies_3 St. Bonaventure is the first of the Big 4 schools to officially announce its nonleague schedule and the 14-game slate, its first under new coach Mark Schmidt, is an intriguing one. Here's the rundown of all the games and then we'll offer some comments.

  • Nov. 9 at Boston University
  • Nov. 12 vs. Binghamton
  • Nov. 16-17-18 vs. Presbyterian, Loyola Marymount and New Mexico at New Mexico
  • Nov. 24 vs. Eastern Michigan
  • Nov. 28 at Niagara
  • Dec. 1 vs. Canisius
  • Dec. 5 at Ohio
  • Dec. 8 vs. Albany
  • Dec. 15 at Hampton
  • Dec. 18 at Wright State
  • Dec. 30 at Binghamton
  • Jan. 5 vs. Bucknell

Random thoughts: The visit from Albany should be juicy, just to see the RC crowd's reaction to Great Danes coach Will Brown, who strung Bona along for nearly a week in April, turned down the job that eventually went to Schmidt and then ripped Olean during an Albany radio interview. ... Home and home with Binghamton? Yuck. ... Like the New Mexico trip, with two toughies followed by the opener against D-I newbie Presbyterian. ... Two Mid-American opponents but neither one is UB? Time for the Bulls and Bonnies to get together. ...  Good to see Wright State, an NCAA team from the HSBC Arena subregional, on the sked again and good to see a quality addition to the home slate in Bucknell.

The Atlantic 10 schedule is released in September. Bona will host Duquesne, La Salle, Richmond, Charlotte, Dayton, George Washington, Rhode Island, and Temple. Its road foes will be Duquesne, La Salle, Richmond, Fordham, Massachusetts, Saint Joseph's, Saint Louis and Xavier.

Brown and White fans, is this a schedule that can help Schmidt & Co. get to 10 wins in his first season?
