Jeanette Leggieri Scott, of East Amherst, former owner of John & Mary's Restaurant in Cheektowaga, died Friday in Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, Amherst. She was 83.
A lifelong resident of Western New York, she and her husband of 61 years, Joseph J. Scott, purchased John & Mary's on Harlem Road in 1966. She worked at the restaurant until her retirement in 1986.
The former Jeanette Leggieri graduated from Kenmore High School and joined St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church in Amherst in 1976.
In addition to her husband, survivors include a daughter, Nancy D. Riester; three sons, James J., Gerald J. and Gregory M.; three sisters, Alma Leggieri, Rita Atkins and Marguerite Cronin; and a brother, Daniel Leggieri.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in St. Gregory the Great Church, 200 St. Gregory Court, Amherst.
