Blues and food

The Seneca Niagara Casino & Hotel in Niagara Falls has just opened a new restaurant called Blues, located in the west concourse in the space that was once Morrie's.

The theme is Southern-style roadhouse, so the menu will feature what it describes as "soul food" -- with emphasis on the likes of beer-battered shrimp, macaroni and cheese, and deep dish apple pie.

The executive chef is Norman Nichols, who has an impressive resume. Hours are from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday; 10 a.m. to 2 a.m. Friday and Saturday. Live entertainment is offered from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. Friday and Saturday.


New tasting pavilion

Dr. Konstantin Frank Vinifera Cellars will be celebrating its 45th anniversary on Aug. 26 with a new Tasting Pavilion at 9749 Middle Road, Hammondsport. The pavillion will have a view of Keuka Lake.

A grand opening party is being planned that day from noon to 4 p.m., with food and wines offered for $20 per person. Call the winery at (800) 320-0735 or visit for more info.
