OLAF FUB SEZ: According to former Buffalo Bills quarterback and Hamburg Congressman Jack Kemp, born on this date in 1935, "Winning is like shaving -- you do it every day or you wind up looking like a bum."

THEATER TIP -- Having trouble getting a seat for the play you want to see at the Shaw Festival in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ont.? Do what a Friend of Fub did this week -- open up some time in the middle of the week and shoot for an evening performance.

The Friend not only went online and landed $65 front-row balcony seats for "Saint Joan," but upon arriving at the Festival Theatre box office, was transferred to even better accommodations in the $80 platinum section on the floor. The balcony, it turned out, was closed.

The Shaw box office confirms that, while weekends and matinees routinely sell out, there sometimes are plenty of choice seats for evening performances on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Another bonus, as the friend discovered on the trip home -- no lines on the bridges at the border.

A Shared Journey

There're many things I think I know,

But very few I know are so.

Alone, I have a narrow view

And so I trust that I and you

Will find what is and isn't true.

For what together we can't find --

Another day, another mind.

-- Bill Slon
