Generator fire at factory causes $40,000 damage
A roof fire early Thursday at a building housing two generators at a Grand Island factory left an estimated $40,000 damage, mostly to the roof itself, Grand Island fire officials said.
Grand Island volunteer firefighters responded to a 4:25 a.m. alarm at Astellas Pharmaceutical Manufacturing, 3125 Staley Road.
An overheating problem in the building's exhaust system sparked the blaze, following extensive testing of the generators Wednesday, Grand Island Fire Chief Greg Butcher said.
