Acting on a tip, two Amherst police officers chased and caught a drug suspect and confiscated some Ecstasy and marijuana in the Creekwoods area in northwest Amherst early Tuesday morning.
Officers John McGarvey and Lori Martinez were on patrol at about 2 a.m., when someone tipped them off that a drug dealer was on foot in the area. They confronted a young man at Glenhaven Drive and Sundridge Boulevard, but he ran from the scene, and they apprehended him nearby, Capt. David Hoy said.
The officers charged Tywain Kemp, 26, of Glenhaven Drive, with felony possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, plus another drug possession charge, resisting arrest, obstructing governmental administration and marijuana possession, according to police reports.
