>Girl, 17, hurt in car race with her boyfriend
JAMESTOWN -- A teen who was racing her boyfriend was injured Monday night when her car jumped three curbs and came to rest in the parking lot of a Wilson Farms store at Baker Street and Hazeltine Avenue in front Persell Middle School, police reported.
Krysta Tibbetts, 17, was taken to WCA Hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
Several witnesses in the area told police that Tibbetts and her boyfriend, Aaron Paterniti, 18, were going well over 70 mph in a 30-mph zone past Bergman Park at about 10 p.m.
Paterniti and Tibbetts were charged with having an unauthorized speed contest. Tibbetts was separately ticketed for driving past 9 p.m. without the proper license.

JAMESTOWN -- Three families escaped safely from a fire in an apartment building at 107 McKinley Ave. shortly after midnight Tuesday.
"The lady in the third-floor apartment noticed an odor, looked up at the ceiling, heard something crack and saw fire and smoke," Fire Battalion Chief Chet Harvey said. "She evacuated and got the rest of the people out.
Harvey said there was heavy damage to the home, especially to the third floor.
"We found a fire in the third-story apartment above the ceiling, in the dead spaces between the attic apartment and bottom of the roof," Harvey reported. "We had a hard time getting to it because there were no opening, so we had to pull all the ceilings down."
>Pedestrians threatened with knife; man arrested
JAMESTOWN -- A man who threatened two pedestrians with a knife on Second Street near Main Street at about 2:30 a.m. Tuesday was arrested after one of the pedestrians flagged down a passing fire truck. The firefighters, in turn, called police.
Officers found Earl Seekings, 52, on Fourth Street with a knife in his hand. After the pedestrians identified him, he was charged with two counts of menacing and one count of marijuana possession after he was found with a small amount of the drug. He is held in City Jail.
>Michigan man, 36, charged with criminal sexual act
CASSADAGA -- A Michigan man was charged with performing a criminal sexual act in an incident involving a 15-year-old girl sometime over the last 18 months, Chautauqua County sheriff's deputies reported.
Juan J. Morales II, 36, is accused of subjecting the teen to unlawful sexual conduct on Main Street in Cassadaga.
A warrant was issued for Morales' arrest Monday. He turned himself in to the Sheriff's Office on Tuesday. Morales was arraigned in Stockton Town Court and taken to Chautauqua County Jail in lieu of $2,000 bail.
>Missing woman found in Pennsylvania
MAYVILLE -- A 62-year-old Stow woman, missing since Friday from her Lakeland Road home, was found late Tuesday morning in a remote area of Pennsylvania near Colt Station, Chautauqua County sheriff's deputies reported.
Marilyn Depew was found at about 11:30 a.m. in a dehydrated and confused state but in otherwise "satisfactory physical condition," deputies said.
Depew was seen walking on a rural road by a resident who approached her and offered assistance. Police said her vehicle was found a short distance away. It appears she was at the location in Pennsylvania for most of the time she was missing.
No foul play was involved, police said. Depew was reunited with her family and taken for medical attention.
