Holliday goes deeeeeeeep

SAN FRANCISCO -- Colorado outfielder Matt Holliday, the last addition to the derby lineup, hit five home runs and two were mammoth shots to left. One was pegged at 460 feet, the other at 462.

You may notice the large Coke bottle above the left-field stands. That's actually a children's slide and it's a landmark that's never been reached during a game. The Giants were going to award a random fan $1 million if the bottle was hit when the ballpark was opened in 2000 but dropped the program after two years because there was a $40,000 premium on the promotion and they figured it wasn't possible.

Holliday just gave it quite a try. The wind is really starting to pick up here too. Folks are donning sweaters and jackets everywhere as most of the stands are now in the shade. Let's see what impact that has on the hitters.

Detroit's Magglio Ordonez, my choice as the first-half MVP in the American League, is up next.
