$312 stolen in break-in at Cambria farm market

CAMBRIA -- The owner of Coulter's Farm Market on North Ridge Road said someone kicked in a door over the weekend and took several hundred dollars from a lock box.

James Coulter told Niagara County sheriff's deputies Sunday morning that someone kicked in the entry door overnight, breaking the door jamb and lock and then took $312 from a green lock box, leaving the box behind. Damage to the door was estimated at $350.

Coulter told deputies that usually the last night employee takes the cash home, but neither employee had taken the money and may have forgotten.


Driver seriously hurt as car strikes tree

A Grand Island man was seriously injured when his car hit a tree in Beaver Island State Park at about 7 p.m. Sunday, the Grand Island Fire Company reported.

Josh Green, 21, lost control when exiting the park, the fire company said.

The impact of the crash broke the tree in two. An extrication team had to remove Green through the roof of the car.

Green was airlifted by Mercy Flight to Erie County Medical Center, where he is being treated for severe upper body injuries.


Car stolen from driveway of Wheatfield home

WHEATFIELD -- A River Road man told Niagara County sheriff's deputies Monday that his car was stolen from his driveway.

The 23-year-old said his 2001 Acura Integra was taken overnight. He said he had parked the car in the driveway in the 2300 block of River Road, with the keys underneath a mat on the front floor. The car was valued at $3,000.


Two face charges of illegal fireworks

LOCKPORT -- Two men were issued tickets in two unrelated incidents of unlawful possession of fireworks Sunday night and early Monday morning.

Lockport police charged Brian M. Goff, 46, of Washington Street, after officers said they heard and then saw several people shooting off fireworks on Goff's deck. Goff told police he would take responsibility since it was his house.

Jeffrey M. Banks, 20, of South Avenue, was charged early Monday morning on Lock Street by city police with unlawful possession of fireworks.

Officers said they found two men sleeping in the hallway of an apartment and found an M-98 firework in a pocket of Banks' jeans.
