Library will close for Independence Day
NORTH TONAWANDA -- The North Tonawanda Public Library will be closed Wednesday for Independence Day.
The library, at 505 Meadow Drive, will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, and it will reopen Thursday, from 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Library materials may be returned in the book and audio-visual return slots at the side of the library building at any time.

County fines bars violating smoking ban
LOCKPORT -- The Niagara County Board of Health has fined Rock City Bar on Buffalo Avenue in Niagara Falls $1,000 for violating the state indoor smoking law.
Two Health Department representatives found a man and two women smoking in the bar Feb. 23, according to a report on a hearing in the case.
The board also upheld a $1,000 fine imposed last month on Cracker's Tavern on Hyde Park Boulevard in Niagara Falls, and Assistant County Attorney J. Michael Fitzgerald told the board Bubba's Waterworks on Buffalo Avenue agreed to pay a $1,000 fine as well.
