World Trade Center Buffalo Niagara, a business development and strategy organization that provides local companies with worldwide membership affiliation, education, training and consulting services, appointed Chris Johnston president. Johnston most recently was a senior economic development adviser to the City of Buffalo. He holds a master's in international economics from Fordham University and is currently completing his dissertation at the University at Buffalo. Also, the organization promoted Laure Kolb to vice president. Kolb has served as manager of business services and operations since 2005. She is a licensed customs broker with more than 20 years experience in international trade.

Delaware North Cos., a hospitality and food service provider, named William J. Bissett president of its Gaming and Entertainment Division. With the company since 1992, Bissett recently served as vice president for external affairs. He received a bachelor's degree from the University of California at Berkeley and a master's degree from Michigan State University.

Jones Memorial Hospital in Wellsville named Eva Benedict chief executive officer. Benedict, who has been serving as interim chief executive since December, most recently served as vice president for patient services. A member of the hospital staff since 1981, she holds a bachelor's degree in nursing from the University at Albany and a master's from St. John Fisher College in Rochester.

Five Star Bank appointed Nancy M. Clark vice president. Clark has more than 35 years of banking experience, having previously worked at Citizen's Bank in Attica prior to its acquisition by Wyoming County Bank in 1985. At Five Star, she has been branch manager in Warsaw since 1999.

The Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor Commission re-elected Eric Mower chair of the federal organization for another year. Mower is chairman and chief executive officer of Eric Mower and Associates. Other officers: Vice chair, Joseph Callahan; secretary, Alan Vincent and treasurer, Peter Welsby. The Commission encourages and assists historic preservation, conservation, recreation, interpretation, tourism, and community development along the Erie Canal route.

The certified public accounting firm of Brock, Schechter and Polakoff named Caroline M. Szydlo manager of human resources. Szydlo received her masters degree from the University at Buffalo and completed her undergraduate degree at Fredonia State College.

Buffalo General Hospital named Sanjay Chadha vice president of ambulatory services and business development. Chadha previously served as vice president of ambulatory and transplant services at Erie County Medical Center, after working for several ambulatory care services at Buffalo General and throughout Kaleida Health from 1996 to 2001. He earned an MBA from Canisius College.

The Amherst Chamber of Commerce appointed Scott Marcus business development manager. Marcus has more than 20 years of experience as a sales professional in the Telecommunications Industry. He graduated from the University at Buffalo.
