The Help You Group is a free service for anyone interested in feeling more confident about their personal appearance and their job skills and is held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the Marvin Palanker Conference Room at WNY Independent Living, 3108 Main St., near Hertel Avenue. Native American Independent Living Services (NAILS) is run by Native Americans with disabilities and provides independent living services to all Native Americans with disabilities both on and off the reservations in Western New York. For information, call 284-4131 or (888) 567-6454.

Patrick Oakley Associates, 2982 Delaware Ave., Kenmore, is a vocational services agency offering comprehensive vocational evaluations and career counseling for students developing IEPs and transition plans as well as persons with disabilities or injured adults seeking entry or re-entry into the work force. CHC Learning Center, 80 Lawrence Bell Drive, Suite 115, Amherst, provides educational and therapeutic programming for preschool and school-age children (infant to 21 years of age). Classes are small and structured to meet the individual needs of students with multiple disabilities. Certified special-education teachers and educational aides staff each classroom. The Speech, Language and Hearing Clinic on the South Campus of the University at Buffalo provides evaluations and treatment for speech, language or hearing difficulties. Appointments are required. For information, call 829-3980.

The Disability Unit of Neighborhood Legal Services provides free legal assistance to individuals with disabilities on issues including vocational rehabilitation, Social Security work incentives, inappropriate institutionalization, discrimination based on disability, access to patient records, special education and more. The office is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. For information, call 847-0650.

The Western New York Developmental Disabilities Services Office operates family care homes for developmentally disabled adults. The individuals reside in licensed private homes, receiving assistance in daily living skills, healthy meals, medication management and guidance from the family care provider. Family care providers receive a monthly stipend, training and monitoring and support from agency staff. For information, call 517-2164.
