Around town / Public meetings in local communities this week


The Alden Village Board will meet at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in Village Hall, 1336 Broadway.



The state control board that oversees city spending will meet at 1 p.m. Thursday in the auditorium of the Buffalo & Erie County Central Library on Lafayette Square. The panel is expected to discuss a proposed contract between the city and its firefighters.

The Common Council will continue working on revisions to Mayor Byron W. Brown's plan for spending $20.9 million in federal block grants at 11 a.m. Monday in Room 1417 of City Hall.

The Planning Board will meet at 8 a.m. Tuesday in Room 901 of City Hall.
A public hearing on a plan to build an ethanol plant on the Buffalo River will be held at 5 p.m. Tuesday in Council Chambers on the 13th floor of City Hall.



Members of the school boards in Cheektowaga -- Maryvale, Cleveland Hill, Cheektowaga Central, Cheektowaga-Sloan and Depew -- will conduct a joint meeting at 6:30 p.m. Monday in the board room of the Samuel R. Bennett Administration Building, 1050 Maryvale Dr. The joint boards meet several times a year to discuss common issues.

The Town Board will conduct a work session at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the council office conference room in Town Hall, 3301 Broadway at Union Road.

The Conservation Advisory Council will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the council office conference room in Town Hall.



The Town Board will meet 8 p.m. Wednesday in Town Hall, 1600 Bowen Road.



The Town Board will meet in a work session at 5 p.m. Wednesday in Town Hall, 8787 Erie Road.



The Town Board will meet at 6 p.m. Monday in Town Hall, S-6100 South Park Ave., for a review of the town's comprehensive plan project.

The Orchard Park School Board will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the administration building, 3330 Baker Road.


>West Seneca

The West Seneca School Board will meet at 7 p.m. Monday in the administrative building, 1397 Orchard Park Road.
