South Council Member Michael P. Kearns does not think the city should penalize human services agencies that have consolidated services by cutting their federal block grant allocations. A Thursday story incorrectly stated his position.


Rep. Brian Higgins apologized to the congregants of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church for their being subjected to criticism of him during a Sunday Mass. An article Wednesday incorrectly stated that Higgins apologized for walking out during the sermon, in which he was criticized for voting in support of federal funding for stem cell research.


In addition, an aide to Higgins says that letters and e-mails in support of his position on stem cell research votes were coming to his Buffalo and Washington offices by a 7-1 ratio. An incorrect ratio was reported in an article Thursday .
