SCHUMER BOOK SIGNING: Sen. Charles E. Schumer will sign copies of his new book and lead a discussion today at Borders Books and Music, 2015 Walden Ave., Cheektowaga. The 10 a.m. event will revolve around Schumer's new book, "Positively American."

INDIA DAY CELEBRATION: The India Association of Buffalo will celebrate India's 58th Republic Day at 5:30 p.m. today at Transit Middle School, 8790 Transit Road, East Amherst. Music and dance performances depicting Indian culture and heritage will be portrayed by children of the Western New York Indian community in colorful costumes and jewelry. There also will be Indian food. Dr. Satish Tripathi, provost of the University at Buffalo, will be the guest of honor. For details, call 689-2835.
