The University at Buffalo is accepting entries from high school poets for its fourth annual UB Poetry Contest. All entries must be in English and consist of no more than 25 lines. Only one poem per contestant may be submitted. Big Orbit Gallery is seeking submissions for its annual members exhibition. All current, new and renewing members of Big Orbit are invited to participate. All work should be ready to hang. All work should be labeled with artist's name, title, process, date and sale price. Video submissions are limited to works or excerpts not exceeding 10 minutes in length. A documentary film co-directed by University at Buffalo faculty member Sarah Elder has been added to the prestigious National Film Registry as part of a select group of films that includes "Rocky," "Blazing Saddles" and "Halloween." A place on the list ensures the film will be preserved under the terms of the National Film Preservation Act. Twenty-five films are selected each year by the National Film Preservation Board. Elder's work has become a recognized model for documentary media, serving both native Alaskan communities and the wider independent documentary world.
