>Body found in field; death linked to cold

FORT ERIE, Ont. -- A passer-by discovered the body of a man about 12:20 p.m. Saturday in a field about 100 yards south of the eastbound QEW, just north of the Gilmore Road exit, Niagara Regional Police said.

Police said a preliminary investigation shows there was no foul play and that the death was caused by severe cold. A post-mortem examination was ordered by the Coroner's Office.

The identity of the man, a 38-year-old Fort Erie resident, was not being released pending notification of family members.


>Allegany grand jury indicts W. Seneca man

BELMONT -- Jesse W. Schumacher, 23, of West Seneca, was indicted last week on a felony driving while intoxicated charge by an Allegany County grand jury. Assistant District Attorney Andrew Cornell said Schumacher was arrested Sept. 16 in Cuba.


>Man accused of selling borrowed tractor, gear

BELMONT -- A Belmont man accused of selling a borrowed tractor and other goods was indicted by an Allegany County grand jury last week on a charge of third-degree grand larceny.
Marc Tessier, 56, is accused of selling a tractor, wood splitter and wood wagon he borrowed July 25, 2005, in Amity, Assistant District Attorney Andrew Cornell said.
Tessier will be arraigned when a judge is assigned to the case.
