The Stillwater Restaurant, 481 Delaware Ave., is open for business in the handsome brownstone that was once once home to Lord Chumley's.
The general manager and proprietor is Justin Cassata, whose family has owned the Sawyer Creek Hotel in Wheatfield for 25 years. The chef is Scott Donhauser, formerly executive chef at the late Daffodil's and also once affiliated with Water Street Landing in Lewiston.
Stillwater will serve what they describe as "New American cuisine"; there is a newly renovated bar and courtyard.
Stillwater will be open for lunch and dinner seven days a week, with the late-night menu offered Thursday through Saturday. Call 884-9283 for more information.
The Greater Buffalo Chapter of the American Red Cross will host a wine tasting and auction, from 2:30 to 5 p.m. Jan. 28 in Clement House, 786 Delaware Ave.
Attendees will be asked to contribute $75 per person or a gift of equal or greater value. These will be used toward securing items for the silent auction that will take place during the BASH, the chapter's major fundraising event. For more information, call 878-2340.
To commemorate the 30th anniversary of the infamous Blizzard of '77, the local chapter of Slow Food USA will host its first annual Snow Food Buffalo event on Jan. 27 in Kleinhans Music Hall.
The evening begins at 6 p.m. with a buffet dinner built on seasonal regional fare; after dinner there's a concert, "Buffalo Legends," featuring composer David Shire.
