A grant from the New York State Music Fund will support presentation of the Buffalo/Williamsville Poetry, Music, Dance Celebration in 2007 and 2008 through a $70,000 award made to Just Buffalo Literary Center.



Dramatic Solutions is casting "Meet the McGraws," an educational theatre show. Auditions are at 6 p.m. next Thursday at 312 Irving Terrace, Kenmore. Roles being cast are a teenage girl, a teenage boy, a preteen boy and a 10-year-old girl. Call Gail Golden at 440-7129 to schedule an audition or for more information.


Calls for Works

*Buffalo authors Alycia Ripley and Tom Waters are seeking submissions of flash fiction and nonfiction (2,000 word maximum) as well as poetry for inclusion in an upcoming not-for-profit anthology about present-day Buffalo. The material must be topical to modern-day Buffalo life, landmarks or Buffalonians in general. All entries must be cut and pasted into the body of an e-mail and sent simultaneously to and, with the type of submission in the subject heading. Please include name, address, e-mail address and published works you would like listed after your name in the complete anthology. Submission period runs through July 1.

*Armed Services YMCA is seeking entries from children of military families for its annual art and essay contest. Children in grades K-6 are asked to submit artwork that best illustrates "My Military Family." For the essay contest, children in grades 1 to 12 may submit essays about why their military mom or dad is their hero. Children of active duty and retired service members from all branches as well as the National Guard and Reserve are eligible. All artwork must be postmarked by Feb. 16. *The Burchfield Nature and Art Center is seeking entries for the "It's All in the Close-Up" photography contest. Photographs must represent the creativity of the "close-up" photo while exploring nature, a child's small hand or the dart on a dart board. The contest is open to the junior division (ages 14 and under) as well as the professional and nonprofessional divisions. Applications are available online at or by calling 677-4843. All entries are due by Feb. 12.

*CEPA Gallery is seeking submissions for its annual Members Exhibition to be held Jan. 27 through March 3. All work is due by 5 p.m. Monday. An opening reception will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. Jan. 27 at CEPA in the Market Arcade Complex, 617 Main St. There will also be exhibition awards offered. For more information call 856-2717.
