>Maziarz appointed to two more committees
State Sen. George D. Maziarz, R-Newfane, has been named to two additional Senate committees -- Finance and Judiciary -- for the 2007 Legislative session, his office announced Wednesday.
The Senate Finance Committee plays a critical role in reviewing and negotiating the state budget, and the Judiciary Committee screens nominations to the State Court of Appeals and oversees legislation affecting the state's judicial system.
"Shaping the state budget and serving as a check and balance to the judicial branch are two of the most important roles we play as legislators," Maziarz said.
Maziarz is chairman of the Labor Committee and also is a member of the following committees: Aging; Corporations, Authorities & Commissions; Crime Victims, Crime & Corrections; and Energy & Telecommunications.
