Donn Esmonde recently wrote about possible reuses for Memorial Auditorium. Housing the Aerospace Museum there would be fabulous, featuring aircraft suspended from the ceiling at different heights. Add to that display, also in the Aud, the world's largest historic bicycle collection that is seeking a home larger than the one it now has in Orchard Park.
A hop, skip and jump from the Aud would be the Solar and Wind Powered Carrousel. Daily walking tours of downtown Buffalo's superb architecture, as well as daily boat tours, would be available.
Linking Buffalo's other major museum attractions would be easy with a free, all-day shuttle. It could transport visitors to the Albright-Knox Art Gallery, the Historical Society Museum, the Burchfield-Penney Art Center (under construction), the Architecture Museum at the Richardson Complex (in planning stages), the Buffalo Zoo, the Darwin Martin House, the Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Martin Mausoleum, the Science Museum, Trinity Episcopal Church, the Wright-designed Boat House, the Pierce-Arrow Museum, the Central Terminal, Our Lady of Victory Basilica, the Botanical Gardens and the reconstructed Larkin Administration Building housing part of the Albright-Knox collection (still in the dream stage).
