(Editor's note: The following letter to Buffalo Mayor Byron W. Brown also was submitted to The Buffalo News as a letter to the editor).
I strongly urge you to fully support the Niagara River Greenway Plan in its entirety.
The citizens of this region have repeatedly told local politicians that repairing and accessing our waterfront is a very high priority. We have repeatedly been ignored.
Tim Wanamaker's address to the Niagara Greenway River plan hearing in the Historical Society was NOT an accurate representation of what your constituents want.
Rep. [Brian] Higgins did the hard part by securing the funds, now all you have to do is have the brains and decency to get out of the way! I promise you that you do not know better.
It is important for the City of Buffalo to fully support the entire Greenway Plan. It is important not to give any credibility to the small, inland Niagara County municipalities that want to get their perceived share of the funds and thus dilute the amount there is to work with. I honestly do not understand what it is about this project that you do not understand.
Politicians do not know better than the people who put them in office.
Now please, do as all your constituents want and immediately come out in full and total support of the Niagara River Greenway Plan.
A City of Buffalo Resident who is not going to take it any more!
