Vincent Arcadi, race car driver
April 29, 1956 -- Jan. 3, 2007

A Mass of Christian Burial for Vincent Arcadi, a professional race car driver and construction company executive from Lancaster, will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Pompeii Church, 158 Laverack Ave., Lancaster.

Mr. Arcadi died of cancer on Wednesday at the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care in Cheektowaga. He was 50.

Born in Buffalo, Mr. Arcadi graduated from Lancaster High School.

For some 25 years, he was a business partner, with his brother, John, in Depew Development Inc., a heavy highway contracting company.

Mr. Arcadi was a Nitro Funny Car driver for the International Hot Rod Association for the past 10 years, devoting full time to racing in events throughout the country the past five years.

In 2006, he was fourth in points in the national IHRA Funny Car standings.

Mr. Arcadi is survived by a son, Angelo, and a brother, John.
