>Electrical problem suspected in Dunkirk fire

DUNKIRK -- An electrical problem is suspected of triggering a fire Monday in an unoccupied house on West Talcott Street.

Fire crews were called at about 7 a.m. The East Dunkirk Fire Department Fast Team also responded.

The fire caused extensive damaged, officials said.


>Man gets 1 to 3 years for 2nd DWI conviction

LITTLE VALLEY -- Travis J. Timblin was sentenced Tuesday to a one- to three-year state prison term on his conviction two months ago of felony driving while his ability was impaired by marijuana.

Cattaraugus County Judge Larry Himelein handed down the sentence.

Timblin, 35, was arrested in Great Valley on Dec. 31, 2005, after dropping his 5-year-old daughter off to her mother's home in Salamanca. Timblin, who was convicted of misdemeanor driving while intoxicated in 2002, tested negative for alcohol, but sheriff's deputies tested for drugs.

A jury deliberated about six hours Nov. 17 after a two-day trial, District Attorney Edward M. Sharkey said. Just before the start of the jury trial, Timblin pleaded guilty to violating the conditional driver's license he had been allowed after his 2002 conviction.


>2 Jamestown residents wanted on drug charges

MAYVILLE -- Two Jamestown residents have been added to Chautauqua County's wanted list, both in drug cases.

Sheriff's officers said Aziza Prunty, 24, of Washington Street, is sought on charges of criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Ryan Richard, 19, of Buffalo Street, is wanted on charges of driving while under the influence of drugs.

Anyone with information on the two suspects is asked to call the Sheriff's Office at 753-2131.


>Woman hospitalized in collision with truck

MAYVILLE -- A Mayville woman was hospitalized Tuesday evening after her car struck a flatbed truck backing out a driveway onto Route 430 in the Town of Chautauqua, Chautauqua County sheriff's deputies said.

Michele Y. Crandall, 41, of Sherman-Mayville Road, who was pinned in her vehicle, was airlifted to Hamot Memorial Hospital, Erie, Pa., with head injuries. Her condition was not immediately available.

The truck driver, Charles L. Maytum, 65, of East Lake Road, Dewittville, was not injured. He was charged with unsafe backing.
