Leonard D. Tokarczyk, a retired Bethlehem Steel Corp. employee and a native of Buffalo, died Friday at his Fruitland Park, Fla., home after a brief illness. He was 73.
Born in Buffalo, Mr. Tokarczyk attended St. Bernard School and Emerson Vocational High School before joining the Navy.
A veteran of the Korean War, he served aboard the aircraft carrier USS Midway.
Mr. Tokarczyk worked as a crane operator at Bethlehem Steel for 30 years before retiring in 1984.
He was a member of the North-South Skirmish Association; Adam Plewacki Post 799, American Legion; and St. Bernard Catholic Church.
In 1994, he moved from this area to Florida, where he was a member of the Harbor Oaks Social Club in Fruitland Park.
Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Margaret Witczak Tokarczyk; two sons, Peter of Radford, Va., and Leonard D. Jr. of North Java; two daughters, Darlene Noeson of Liverpool and Yvonne Chandler of Vinton, Va.; two sisters, Dorothy Liszka of Cheektowaga and Patricia of Buffalo; and eight grandchildren.
Services will be in Clermont, Fla. Burial will be in Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell.
