Fucher Mae Davis, nurse's assistant
May 1, 1941 -- Feb. 23, 2006

Fucher Mae Davis of Buffalo, a nurse's assistant at Buffalo General Hospital for more than 20 years, died Thursday in Millard Fillmore Hospital after an illness of two years. She was 64.

Born Fucher Burnell in McNeil, Ark., she attended Bennett High School, the University at Buffalo's Educational Opportunity Program and Erie Community College.

A longtime member of St. Luke African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church, Mrs. Davis was president of its ushers' board, trained new ushers and participated in the St. Luke's Economic Development Program.

Mrs. Davis enjoyed cooking for her ushers, bowling, fishing, camping and traveling.

Survivors include a stepson, Julius A. of Stone Mountain, Ga.; a stepdaughter, Saundra Davis-Anderson of Conyers, Ga.; two brothers, Albert Belin of Garden Grove, Calif., and John Belin of Dallas; and two stepgranddaughters.

Services will be at noon Thursday in St. Luke Curch, 314 E. Ferry St. Burial will be in St. Matthew's Cemetery, West Seneca.
