Daniel Cormier, a former Kenmore resident and musician, died last Wednesday in a Greeley, Colo., hospice facility. He was 68.
Born in Cheticamp, Nova Scotia, Mr. Cormier graduated from high school and college in Nova Scotia and joined the U.S. Air Force.
Mr. Cormier lived in Colorado Springs, working various jobs while finding time to play his beloved fiddle.
He moved to Kenmore in 1989 and in 1992 joined the Irish band the Colleens With Cormier. The band performed in the Buffalo area until 2004, and Mr. Cormier returned to Greeley last November to be with his family.
Survivors include a daughter, Dr. Michelle Paczosa of Greeley; two sons, Chip of Castro Valley, Calif., and Scott of Greeley; two sisters, Mary
Korolyk of Welland, Ont., and Simone Bowden of Cheticamp; two brothers, Gordon of Port Colborne, Ont., and Maurice Burns of Toronto; and five grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held July 29 in Cheticamp.
