BOARD MEETING: A work session on the Lackawanna School District's budget for next year will be held at 6 p.m. today in Room 202 of the McKinley School Administrative Offices, 245 South Shore Blvd.

ABUSE-REPORTING TRAINING: A training session on identifying and reporting child abuse, maltreatment and neglect will be held from 9:30 a.m. to noon Saturday in LoGuidice Educational Center, 9520 Fredonia-Stockton Road, Fredonia.

The state requires such training for all persons applying for a provisional or permanent licenses for administrative, supervisory, teaching and other school positions. A $30 workshop fee will be charged. To register, call 672-4371, Ext. 2145.

ONE-STOP SHOPPING: The 24th annual Community Marketplace, presented by the Orchard Park Chamber of Commerce, will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday in Orchard Park High School, 4040 Barker Road. WELCOMING CEREMONY: The New York Army National Guard invites the public to join in recognizing the 42nd Infantry Division soldiers from Western New York who recently returned from deployments in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom and Noble Eagle. A "Freedom Salute" ceremony will be held at noon Sunday in Alumni Arena on the University at Buffalo North Campus in Amherst.

FUND-RAISER: The Parent's Guild of the Cantalician Center for Learning will sponsor a theme tray sale, beginning at noon Sunday in the center, 1360 Eggert Road, Eggertsville. Tickets are $3 for 15.

POTLUCK DINNER: The returned Peace Corps volunteers of Buffalo and Western New York will meet at 5 p.m. Sunday to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the founding of the Peace Corps in 1961 under President John F. Kennedy. The event will be held in the International Institute of Buffalo New York Incorporates, 864 Delaware Ave. Peace Corps volunteers and their family members are invited. Bring a dish to pass.
