Services for William H. McAlpin Jr. will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Philip's Episcopal Church, 15 Fernhill Ave. Burial will be in Forest Lawn.
Mr. McAlpin, formerly of Buffalo, died Wednesday in South Fulton Hospital, Atlanta, where he had recently moved. He was 90.
Mr. McAlpin worked for the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority for 35 years, starting as an operator and finishing as a trainer in 1982.
Born in Kane, Pa., he attended Buffalo's School 32 and Technical High School. After working several years in the Washington, D.C., area for the State Department, he returned to Buffalo and worked for Curtiss-Wright Corp. There, he met his future wife.
A lifelong member of St. Philip's, Mr. McAlpin served as an acolyte, vestryman and junior warden, as well as secretary-treasurer of the Men's Club. He enjoyed gardening and working with the Beverly Road Block Club.
His wife of 54 years, Willa Mae Green McAlpin, died in 2000.
Surviving are a daughter, Deborah A. Dulin of Atlanta; a son, Frederick W. Sr. of Louisville, Ky.; three grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
