A fire that started shortly after 11:30 a.m. Monday destroyed a Clarence home and resulted in the injury of one firefighter, Amherst Fire Control said.
The fire at 9171 Milton Lane burned for about 90 minutes before it was brought under control, officials said. Damage was assessed at $225,000. By the time volunteers of the Harris Hill Fire Company arrived, flames were shooting through the roof.
One firefighter was treated for a minor injury in Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, Amherst, then released.
Fire officials said the home was being rented by a family of five, and no one was at home at the time. The Red Cross is assisting the family. A pet cat died in the blaze.
