Mary F. Castellani of Depew, a retired Erie County Department of Social Services supervisor, died Sunday in the Hospice unit at Buffalo General Hospital after a brief illness. She was 81.
Born Mary Scarcella in Buffalo, she attended local schools and graduated from Mount St. Joseph's High School.
Mrs. Castellani worked for several years at Sterilon Corp. in Buffalo before joining the county's Social Services Department. She retired in the mid-1980s after more than 20 years of service with the county.
Her husband of 62 years, Armando, died in 2005.
Survivors include three daughters, MaryFrances Randall of Clarence, Teresa of Amherst and Joanne Castellani-Andriaccio of Lancaster; her mother, Teresa Scarcella of Cheektowaga; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Amigone Funeral Home, 6050 Transit Road, Depew. Entombment will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cheektowaga.
