Mary C. Stelmach of Buffalo, who was honored by her church as Mother of the Year, died Sunday in Father Baker Manor, Orchard Park. She was 92.
Born Mary Cegielski in Buffalo, she was a homemaker.
Mrs. Stelmach was a member of the Mothers Club at St. Luke Catholic Church, which named her Mother of the Year in 1986.
She enjoyed playing bingo and cards and baking for her extended family. She was known for her apple pie.
Her husband, Stanley B., died in 1981.
Survivors include three daughters, Leona Miller and Joan Ziolkowski, both of West Seneca, and Esther Olszewski of Cheektowaga; two sons, Leonard of Angola and Joseph of Lake City, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. Thursday in St. John Kanty Catholic Church, 101 Swinburne St. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Cheektowaga.
