Roy D. Gerland of Douglasville, Ga., formerly of Buffalo, died Feb. 18 in Wellstar Douglas Hospital, Douglasville, after a brief illness. He was 65.
Born in Buffalo, the youngest of 12 children, he attended School 8 and was self-employed in residential construction and maintenance. He moved from Buffalo to Sarasota, Fla., in 1988, then lived in Mountain Home, Ark., before moving to Georgia six months ago.
His wife, Judy Heitzenrater Gerland, died in 2005.
Survivors include a daughter, Dawn Lesinszki of Douglasville; a son, David of Jacksonville, Fla; two sisters, Arline Corcoran of Buffalo and Shirley Todoroff of West Seneca; three brothers, Kenny of West Seneca, Jack of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Milton "Buster" of St. Louis; and two grandchildren.
