Police search for suspect in stabbing at party
NIAGARA FALLS -- City police said they are looking for a man who stabbed a city man in the left arm Saturday morning after he was confronted about stealing a wallet during a party on Elmwood Avenue.
Several people attended the overnight party, police said. A man who was one of the last to leave lunged at another man with a knife when the female host asked about her wallet. The man threw the host's empty wallet at her before the stabbing, then fled with about $240 in cash, according to police reports.
The 20-year-old victim suffered minor injuries and was treated in Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, police said.
Officer Jon Schuster said police found broken automobile glass and three spent shotgun shells scattered on the roadway between 1150 and 1158 Ontario Ave. An investigation continued Saturday.
Man says he was victim of drive-by shooting
NIAGARA FALLS -- A city man told police he was the victim of a drive-by shooting late Friday. The 34-year-old man suffered an injury from a shotgun blast to his left shoulder that left birdshot imbedded in his arm, police said. He was treated at Mount St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston.
The man told police he was driving his truck in the 1100 block of Ontario Avenue about 11:15 p.m. when the driver's side window was shattered by what Morris thought was a glass bottle. He continued on to a LaSalle destination, at which point the pain in his shoulder was determined to be a gunshot wound, officers said.
Stabbing victim recalls few details of fight
NIAGARA FALLS -- A city resident told police he suffered a minor stab wound in his left side during a fight Friday morning.
The 30-year-old man was interviewed about nine hours after the assault, while being treated in Mount St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston.
He told police all he could recall was taking a cab home about 4 a.m., and stopping to help a woman who was arguing with two men. He and the woman fled in the cab following a confrontation with the two men.
Couple face charges after attack outside bar
NIAGARA FALLS -- A fight outside an 18th Street tavern led to the arrest of a city man and his fiancee late Friday, police said.
Officers arriving at the End Zone tavern just after 11 p.m. said they saw a man throwing a woman to the ground in the street in front of the tavern, then repeatedly punching her in the face. After the man was taken into custody, his girlfriend kicked the man in the face from where she lay on the ground, police said.
Jason W. Klein, 35, of North Avenue, was charged with second-degree assault for his role in the attack, officers said. Crystal C. Shull, 35, of Petroleum Street, Town of Niagara, was charged with third-degree assault.
Guilty plea entered in crack cocaine case
LOCKPORT -- Willie F. Johnson, 22, of 24th Street, Niagara Falls, pleaded guilty in Niagara County Court last week to fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Johnson had been charged with trying to sell cocaine twice in Niagara Falls, on June 1 on Buffalo Avenue and on Aug. 10 on Ferry Avenue. County Judge Sara Sheldon Sperrazza on Thursday scheduled sentencing for April 27.
In another cocaine case, arraignment was completed Friday for a Niagara Falls man accused of possessing crack cocaine in the Town of Lockport.
Rakem T. Coldallah, 25, of Ferry Avenue, pleaded not guilty to third- and fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Coldallah is accused of having 1.1 grams of cocaine when he was arrested Sept. 1.
