William F. Harknett, a former Union Carbide laborer, died Monday in Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center after a lengthy illness. He was 65.
Mr. Harknett was born in Niagara Falls and attended local schools.
He served in the Army from 1958 to 1964 and with the Marines from 1965 to 1969, including two tours of duty in Vietnam.
He was a laborer with Elkem Metals, a division of Union Carbide, for more than 22 years before retiring in 1992. He enjoyed hunting and bowling.
Survivors include three sisters, Gwendolyn Scott of Covington, Ga., Carole Ann Valentine of St. Clairsville, Ohio, and Amelia Clara Lewis of Niagara Falls.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. today in Rhoney Funeral Home, 1124 Ontario Ave., Niagara Falls. Burial will be in Acacia Park Cemetery, Town of Pendleton.
