Lawrence C. Parker, GM worker, singer March 15, 1948 -- Feb. 18, 2006

Services for Lawrence C. "LP" Parker, a longtime General Motors worker, were held today in Free Spirit Baptist Church. Burial was in Forest Lawn.

Mr. Parker, of Cheektowaga, died of a heart attack Saturday. He was 57.

A native of Buffalo, he graduated from East High School, Erie Community College and Bryant & Stratton Business Institute.

He worked at GM's Powertrain plant in the Town of Tonawanda for 25 years.

Mr. Parker was a member of First Shiloh Baptist Church and in his later years became a member of Free Spirit Baptist Church.

He bowled in many leagues, played in summer softball leagues and coached several women's teams.

Mr. Parker loved music and singing, often performing at weddings, retirement parties and other social functions.

Survivors include two sons, Anthony Dixon of Buffalo and Ahmal of Rochester; a sister, Florina Autman of Buffalo; a brother, Robert of Buffalo; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
