The Niagara USA Chamber will honor local businesses tonight at its annual awards dinner in the Conference Center Niagara Falls.
Niacet Corp. was named Business of the Year. The specialty chemicals company, formerly part of Union Carbide, employs 80 people and is recognized for its contributions to the community.
Merrell Lane and John Cooper were named Business Persons of the Year for their volunteer work to prevent the closing of the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station.
The YWCA of Niagara was named Community Advocate of the Year, for its work in areas such as combating domestic violence, offering programs for youth, and promoting opportunities for women.
Opportunities Unlimited of Niagara will be honored for its 50 years of service. The human services agency works with disabled people, through roles such as referring them to local companies with jobs to fill.
