Judith S. Bixby, a former teacher, died Monday in her Elma home after a long illness. She was 78.
Born Judith Stevens in Hudson, she graduated from Germantown Central School, Germantown, and earned a bachelor's degree in French from Russell Sage College, Troy. She lived in Orchard Park for many years and later Elma.
Mrs. Bixby taught English, Spanish and physical education at Germantown Central School in the 1940s and 1950s.
She was a lay minister, served on the vestry and was a member of the choir at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Orchard Park.
Survivors include her husband, Harold S.; a daughter, Leslie M., and a son, H. William, both of Philadelphia; and three grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in St. Mark's Church, 6595 E. Quaker St., Orchard Park. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Orchard Park.
