Francis M. Finley, postal worker, veteran May 12, 1914 -- Feb. 20, 2006

A Mass of Christian Burial for Francis M. Finley, a retired postal worker, was offered today in St. Ambrose Catholic Church. Burial was in Holy Cross Cemetery, Lackawanna.

Mr. Finley, a Buffalo resident, died Monday in Mercy Hospital of complications from cancer and congestive heart failure. He was 91.

He retired in 1976 from the Postal Service after delivering mail in the Blasdell area for many years.

Born in Buffalo, Mr. Finley served in North Africa and Italy with the Army Air Forces during World War II, assigned to the 303rd Bomb Support Group. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Active for many years with the Knights of Columbus, he was a founder and grand knight of Father Baker Council 2243 and was a fourth-degree member of the Monsignor Toomey Assembly. He also was a member of the St. Ambrose Holy Name Society and the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
