LOCKPORT -- A Market Street man was charged Monday with five counts of felony forgery after allegedly stealing checks and cleaning out an elderly woman's checking account.
Robert E. Reeb, 29, was additionally charged with five counts of possession of a forged instrument and five counts of petit larceny.
The victim, from Carolina Avenue, told police that she received a notice on Valentine's Day from Lockport Savings Bank that her account was overdrawn, and the bank suggested the checks may have been stolen.
Reeb is accuse of cashing more than $1,275 in stolen checks between Jan. 23 and Feb. 8.
>Girls in basketball tourney report locker room thefts
LOCKPORT -- Three Buffalo teens reported personal items were stolen from the Lockport High School locker room, while they participated in a weekend basketball tournament.
Two 14-year-old girls and one 15-year-old girl, told police that they had left their items unattended in lockers and gym bags in the boys locker room between 1:30 and 5:45 p.m. Saturday. All had been participants in the basketball tournament.
Reported stolen were two cell phones, both valued at $100, and two Ipods, one valued at $250 and the other with an undetermined value.
