>Fire destroys church; demolition ordered

A two-alarm fire early today destroyed a vacant church in the city's Lovejoy neighborhood.

Fire officials said flames erupted at 321 Longnecker St. just after midnight and quickly spread throughout the three-story structure.

Firefighters prevented the flames from damaging the house next door.

Damage was estimated at $60,000 to the building.

An emergency demolition has been ordered. The cause of the fire has not been determined, but fire officials are calling it suspicious.


>Drugs, equipment stolen from medical office

A thief struck a Delaware Avenue medical office building late last week and stole quantities of several drugs, Buffalo police reported.

A representative for the office at 1275 Delaware Ave. told police that sometime between 6 p.m. Thursday and 1 p.m. Friday, someone forced open a locked storage room and took multiple boxes of the drugs Cialis, Levitra and Viagra as well as the antibiotic Cipro and boxes of injection and syringe needles.


>Several women attack, injure man outside his house

An East Woodlawn Avenue man received about 35 stitches and staples to close three wounds caused by an attack by several women outside of his house, Buffalo police reported Monday.

The victim told police he was standing in front of his 30 E. Woodlawn Ave. home when he became involved in an argument with several women. One of them pulled out a knife and cut him several times, police said.
